मडकईच्या नवरात्रोत्सवाची मूळ सुरूवात शके १८०३ मध्ये झाल्याची नोंद जाणकार मंडळिंकडून मिळते. नवरात्रोस्तवाला जे मखर वापरण्यात येते, त्याची निर्मिती शके १८०३ साली करण्यात आली असल्याची नोंद आढळते. नवरात्रोस्तवाची नोंद १९१० सालच्या संस्थानच्या नोंदवहित झालेली आढळते. या नोंदवहिमध्ये उस्तव कोणत्या दिवशी साजरा करायचा, याची विस्तृत माहिती नोंद केलेली आहे. नवरात्रीचा उत्सव नऊ दिवस साजरा करण्यात येतो; पण आमच्या हिंदू पंचांगाप्रमाने नवरात्रोस्तव एके वर्षी आठ, नऊ किंवा दहा दिवशी साजरा करण्यात येतो व त्याप्रमाणे उत्सवाची रूपरेषा ठरविली जाते.
