This city is about 300 years old. Alibag was developed in the 17th century by Sarkhel Kanhoji Angre, the Naval chief of King Shivaji's kingdom. It has been declared as a Taluka place in 1852. In 1869, four Talukas and Kulaba district was formed under its region. This is city is also known by another name "Shribag" At that time, this city was not directly connected to Mumbai. Usually people was traveled this distance by sea from Revas, Dharmtar or Mankule. In 1964, this picture was changed. The bridge was built known as DHARAMTAR CREEK, and ALIBAG was connected to Mumbai in this way. It is an pastoral town on the western coast of India, known as the Konkan region. It lies on almost the same latitude as the southern tip of Mumbai and is very close to this tip across the narrow strip of the Arabian Sea. It has a lovely beach that is secure.
