Government Museum, Bharatpur - 37

Guys, Government Museum of Bharatpur has a rich collection of archaeological wealth of nearby areas, as well as objects from the old Bharatpur state is on display.

This museum is settled in the centre of the notable Lohagarh Fort, the Bharatpur Museum houses a rich collection of archaeological wealth of the nearby areas as from the old Bharatpiir State. The immense impressive building Kachahari Kalan, once the administrative block of the rulers of Bharatpur state, was convinced into a Museum in 1944. Afterwards, the Kamra Khas (personal chamber) building on the first floor was added to the museum. It exhibits sculptures found during the dug up of old villages e.g. Noh, Mailah, Bareh, Bayana etc. ranging from the Kuslian period.

You can visit here daily from 10.00 am to 04.45 pm. Entry passed will be charged at Rs. 3/- for Indians and Rs. 10/- for Foreigners.

Silk robes and various “Farmans” bearing original imperial seals, issued by emperors including Jahangir, Shah Jahan and Aurangzeb are the main exhibits in the museum. This museum has a brilliant collection of terra-cotta ware, paintings, coins, sculptures and arms. Some of the exhibits are from the pre Harrapan period. The terra-cotta is said to be from the Gupta and Kushan periods (4th to 5th century).

Guys, Ganga Golden Jubilee Museum of Bikaner was demonstrated in 1937, near the Lalgarh Palace, on the eve of the Golden Jubilee solemnizations of Maharaja Gaiiga Singh. After in 1954, the museum was changed over to a new building in the Civil Lines and is now run by the Government of Rajasthan.

Ganga Golden Jubilee Museum exhibits a varied collection of artifacts including terracotta, pottery, carpets, paintings, armory and miniature paintings of Bikaner school and coins. The exhibits are magnificent and the most outstanding work of a creative artist or craftsman of Harappan civilization, Gupta and Kushan era and sculptures of the late classical time.

Ganga Golden Jubilee Museum is open daily from 10:00 am to 05.00 pm. You can get the entry passes by paying Rs. 3/- for Indians and Rs. 10/- for Foreigners.

Tibet House Museum, New Delhi - 22

Tibet House Museum located in the Institutional Area of Lodhi Road. It dishes up as a imagination center on Tibet and its history. The collection of the museum includes those items that Dalai Lama had brought from Tibet, when he escaped from there. One of the major draws of the museum is a collection of Tankhas i.e., painted scrolls exemplifying the life of Buddha, dating back to as early as the 15th Century. 

Other items displayed inside the museum comprise of an dainty collection of Buddha figurines, old currency notes, prayer objects, musical instruments, age-old jewelry, ritual objects, and so on. Museum of Tibet House, settled in New Delhi area, also houses a library that has books on Tibet, its history and cultural heritage. Informative lecture sittings and give-and-takes are also held here on a regular basis. 

There is a shop selling Tibetan clothes, jewelry, medicines, infuriate, peculiar and a range of handicrafts. Some of the collected objects of the Tibet House Museum have been taken from the cloisters in Tibet. However, a number of others have been produced at the various Tibetan closures posited throughout the Indian landmass. For those mattered to knowing more about the past of Tibet, the museum is definitely the place to be.

This house contains ceremonial items from Tibet when the Dalai Lama fled following the Chinese occupation. There are also many Tibetan handicrafts on display.

Sanghol Museum, Chandigarh - 16

The main exhibits are the archaeological finds of Punjab’s ancient civilization. A Stupa from a Buddhist monastery dating back to 1st century is the most popular display.

Sanghol Archeological Museum is placed in Sanghol on the Chandigarh-Ludhiana Road. It is a monument of the archeological determinations from the ancient civilization of Punjab. A stupa of a Buddhist monastery, believed to be of 1st or 2nd century, is one of the important monuments in the museum. Also included in the collections are coins, seals and terracotta articles. The museum is closed on Mondays. Entry is fee. Photography is allowed upon obtaining permission from the director.

If you wish to visit this place just know the distance from Chandigarh (140 kms.) and New Delhi (390 Kms.) to Sanghol Museum. It is also known as Ucha Pind Sanghol. You can visit at interesting places like site excavation at village named ‘Ucha Pind Sanghol’ and archeological Museum at Sanghol (district Ludhiana).

The dry land floor gallery demonstrates the most important items of ancientnesses other than the stone sculptures. The pride of the Sanghol Museum, the stone sculptures, are displayed in the top gallery. The antiquities in the ground floor gallery have been arranged chronologically to highlight the development of socio-cultural and religious facts of the regional manifestations of the heritage of Punjab.

So, I am suggesting you to not miss the opportunity to visit at Sanghol Museum.

The National Museum :
On Janpath is the largest museum of the country. Its various galleries cover 5,000 years of art and culture, from the Indus Valley civilisation, spanning over the various empires and dynasties that ruled over different parts of India, right to the present day. Artefacts, sculputres, paintings, household articles, textiles, military implements, manuscripts and texts, priceless collections of jewellery, and much more showcases India's rich and caried history. Crafts Museum :
It exhibits the 'masterpieces' created by India's village artisans. Apart from the permanent collection, regular exhibitions and sales of handicrafts are held at the stalls situated there, with craftspeople demonstrating their skills on the spot.

Gandhi Smriti :
Situated on Tees January Marg, where Mahatma Gandhi was assassinated, this is a tribute to the Mahatma.

National Gallery of Modern Art :

It houses paintings from the mid-19th century to present day Indian artists.


Nehru Memorial Museum and Library :
Teen Murti Bhavan, the residence of Jawaharlal Nehru has been turned into a museum with a rich collection of manuscripts and books on Indian history and the freedom movement.


Rail Museum :
It traces the development of the Indian Railways that played a major role in the history of Colonial and modern India. Locomotive enthusiasts can see various relics of the past including a stream engine of 1855 vintage.
