INDIA : Aurangabad - A Historical City

One of the most Historical City of India is located in the northern part of the state of Maharashtra in the western region of India. Road distance from Mumbai is 403 kms. This city is encircled by hills, and on the banks of river named "KHAM RIVER." MALIK AMBER founded this city in 1610. In 1626, his son FATEH KHAN named it as FATEHPUR. Further in 1653, the MUGHAL EMPIRE, Viceroy of the DECCAN, AURANGZEB has made his capital city KHADKI and renamed it as AURANGABAD. This city is famed for its silk and cotton textile.

Further back, buddhism was innovated to this area. In the 14th century Mohammaed bin Tughlaq, Sultanate of Delhi, traveled his capital from Delhi. In 1707, after the death of Aurangzeb, Nizam of Hyderabad controlled this area till it was combined with Maharashtra State in 1956.
