The Town Hall, one of the most celebrated architectural edifices of Kolkata now boasts of India’s first hi-tech museum. Called the Kolkata Panorama, the state-of-the-art museum portrays and depicts stories of the Kolkata city from its inception through the Bengal Renaissance and the freedom struggle to the present day.
Guys, Kolkata Panorama, India’s first high-tech story-telling museum on the history of the city of Kolkata, built by Kolkata Museum Society (a Kolkata Municipal Corporation Project) is opened since 2002 in the historic Town Hall. Divided in 19 enclaves and covering an area of 1200 sq mt, the museum depicts the story of Kolkata, its social, political & socio-economic history, riotous freedom movement, its creative efforts in the domains of education, literature, music, performing art, science and technology. The story is told with the help of a state-of-the-art communication technology so as to involve the visitors with recreated events of the past.
You can visit here from 11.00 am to 06.00 pm except on Mondays and Public Holidays. Here entery has been charged as Rs. 10/- for Indians on Weekdays, Rs. 15/- on Saturdays, Sundays and Holidays, Rs. 100/- for foreigners.
