Maharaja Sawai Man Singh (II) Museum, Jaipur (1) - 43

Maharaja Sawai Man Singh (II) Museum of Jaipur is the vast collection of miniature paintings, illustrated manuscripts, decorated book covers, palm-leaf manuscripts and printed books.

He was the member of royal family of the Mughal empire, Maharaja Sawai Jai Singh. He was founded Jaipur in 1727. His posterity are respected and recalled at the Maharaja Sawai Man Singh II Museum. This museum is situated in the old city near the palace, the museum exhibits collections and artifacts of succeeding rulers of Jaipur. Paintings, textiles, military paraphernalia, and costumes are among the articles displayed.

This museum was established in 1959 by Maharaja Sawai Man Singh II, and located in the City Palace complex in Jaipur. Its art gallery is situated in the Diwan-i-Aam built for holding important state functions. It displays a variety of miniature paintings, illustrated manuscripts, decorated book covers, palm-leaf, old printed books, gigantic Mughal carpets, gold and silver Takhi-e-Rawan (moveable throne), palanquins and carriages with rich embroidered velvet coverings.
