Shilp Gram, Udaipur - 55

Guys if you would like to have an experience of real enjoyment then you must visit at Shilp Gram. It has a wide collection of folk art that gives a glance of the tribal life of Rajasthan.

This Shilp Gram is located just 3 kms west of Udaipur near the Havala village. It is the centre point of Shilpgram - the name very well known for the Rural Arts and Crafts Complex. This beautiful land surrounded by Aravallies.

You can find here the two huts named after the two sand bound villages of Rama and Sam from the desert region of western Rajasthan. You can also find here the potter's hut from the village Dhol, it is located just 70 kms west of Udaipur.

I would like to add one more thing here is, you can also find seven representative huts from the state of Gujarat. It has a clump of six huts from Banni area and one from Bhujodi have been selected from the arid wastelands of Kutch. The Banni cluster consists of two huts each of the Rebari, Harijan and Muslim communities famous for their weaving, embroidery, bead and mirrorwork, wood work and rogar work. They are equally long-familiar for its valiant horses, Lambdia village near Poshina in North Gujarat is represented with a potter's hut. Adjoining to the Lambdia potter's workshop at the Shilpgram is the weaver's hut from Vasedi village in Chota Udaipur area in western Gujarat. Two huts represent the Dang and Rathwa tribal farmer communities of southern Gujarat. Further more, there is an ornately carved wooden house from Pethapur near Gandhinagar.

What are the things that attracts you at Shilp Gram? It is so simple and easy. You must visit at every section of Shilp Gram to see the Craft Stalls, Camel and Horse Rides, Swings for Children, the Terra Cotta Museum, Ethnographic Museum, the Kothi Museum and Sculpture Park and most famous the daily Cultural Performances. You can visit here from 11.00 am to 07.00 pm. Shilp Gram is open for all days. Just turned up with nominal charges of Rs. 25/- for Foreigners, Rs. 15/- for adult, Rs. 7/- for Child and Rs. 5/- for Indians.
