Normally, every visitor or traveler are going to plan his visit while moving around the places. I think this information is best worth for them who are planned to visit at Binsar.
Jageshwar (66 km):
A pilgrim town, Jageshwar was a medieval centre of Lakula Shaivism and is widely accepted as the eighth Jyotirlinga. The temples range in age from the 8th century (early Katyuri Dynasty) to the 18th century (Chand Dynasty).
Jageshwar's major attraction is the temple complex, with the most important temples being the Mrityunjaya and the Jyotirlinga itself. The Dandeshwar Temple Complex, a few kilometres away, is also worth a visit. A trek up to the Briddha Jageshwar Temple is rewarding for the journey itself. A warning though - the 3-km uphill trek is steep and you need to be reasonably fit. Carry a bottle of water along and avoid the goat paths.
The recently opened Archaeological Museum located next to the KMVN Tourist Rest House is worth a visit. Open 10 am-4 pm every day (Sunday closed), it houses exquisite idols and statuettes removed from the Jageshwar shrine dating as far back as the 10th century.
For stay, KMVN has Jagnath Tourist Rest House (Tel: 05962-263028; Tariff: Rs 400-650). Don't expect delicacies on the menu during the off-season. Raj Mahal Hotel (Tel: 263066; Tariff: Rs 200) offers the basics. Both are near the temples.
Getting There:
Rail Nearest railhead: Kathgodam (121 km/ 4 hrs). Taxis available for Rs 850 approx to Binsar Road A 10-hr drive from Delhi on NH24 to Rampur, NH87 to Kathgodam, then the state highway via Bhowali, Khairna, Almora, Kaparkhan and Ayarpani to Binsar. Tank up at Almora. You are not likely to get fuel beyond this point. And watch out for those views!
Best time to visit:
Best from February to June, then again from September to November. Winter is bitterly cold here.
